Love Hate

I have a Love Hate relationship with Film. Ill start with the hate by saying its very time consuming to shoot with it and then to process it. I myself as well as others are spoiled with instant gratification of the digital world. But how would we be today if film wasn't around? No X-rays, Newspapers would be full of text, there would be a lot more sketch artist and painters. Then there also wouldn't be the "Paparazzi" and tabloids magazines.

So now for the love of film. I love the organics and the fine detail you can get from it that digital industry is still trying to perfect today. For black and white, the basic tonality of black, white and gray are as simple as you can get, yet achieve extraordinary results with filters, stops and time. It makes me more patient and involved.

  1. I don't know about you, but I really enjoy the physical portion of film - loading a Hassy for example, and advancing the film after taking a shot.

I also feel a lot more satisfied and proud of myself when I get a good shot on film because, like you said, you've been more involved.
